- With the season’s end, it will no longer be possible to earn PvP seasonal rewards, titles, or Shadowlands Season 3 rankings.
Shadowlands Season 3: Mythic+

- The “Cryptic Hero” title will be rewarded during the following weeks after the season ends, so be to wait to change factions until after you have received the title.
While the ‘Ahead of the Curve’ & ‘Cutting Edge’ Feats of Strength are going away when Season 4 launches, the Carcinized Zerethsteed (from killing Heroic Jailer), as well as the 100% Droprates from the Mythic Sylvanas and Mythic Jailer mounts aren’t going away until Dragonflight launches (The Sylvanas and Jailer mythic mounts will stay in the game, but be significantly reduced in droprate as with previous expansions).
SEASON 4 RAIDS EXPLAINED
We are getting an increase in ilvl rewards from dungeons, pvp and also raids. When it comes to raids, there are some changes and systems that we are not used to which Blizzard are testing for future expansions. This system will include that:
- New System Fated - All 3 Shadowlands Raids will give higher ilvl gear reward
- All 3 Shadowlands Raids will be available but only one of them per week.
- What Raid difficulties are Fated
- What Affixes are added in Fated Raids
Fated - Old raids give higher ilvl reward
In Shadowlands, we had 3 raids which are
- Castle Nathria (From Season 1)
- Sanctum of Domination (From Season 2)
- Sepulcher of the First Ones (From Season 3)
In Season 4, we are getting something called “Fated”.
This Fated system is a new system implemented in Season 4 which will increase the ilvl gear of old raids. Fated will also add an affix in the boss fights of the raid as well. Adding an affix means that a new boss ability is added into the fight. Affix in this case is a Fated power.
The ilvl reward from the Fated raids are following (The higher ilvl is rewarded from later boss in the raid).
Raid Finder |
265 - 272 ilvl |
Normal |
278 - 285 ilvl |
Heroic |
291 - 298 ilvl |
Mythic |
304 - 311 ilvl |
All 3 Raids Fated but one per week
When Season 4 is out, we will get these 3 raids in a weekly rotation. Meaning, only one of the raids is tagged as a Fated raid.
First week we are getting Castle Nathria as Fated.
Second week we are getting Sanctum of Domination as Fated.
Third week we are getting Sepulcher of the First Ones as Fated.
Then it starts over again with Castle Nathria. You can see which raid is fated by opening your Adventure Guide.
What Raid Difficulties are Fated
There are 4 raid difficulties in World of Warcraft, which are
- Raid Finder
- Normal
- Heroic
- Mythic
All four difficulties are available as Fated raids when each of the 3 raids are available.
Will Tier Gear have higher ilvl
Yes they will. Once Sepulcher of the First Ones is active as Fated raid, it will drop tier gear with the higher ilvl.
What Affixes are added in Fated Raids
The Affixed are called Fated powers, and there are 4:
- Fated Power: Chaotic Essence
- Fated Power: Protoform Barrier
- Fated Power: Reconfiguration Emitter
- Fated Power: Replicating Essence
When a boss has a Fated power, that boss is empowered and will cast the Fated Power ability during the fight.
Fated Power: Chaotic Essence
Summons a Chaotic Essence which casts Chaotic Destruction, inflicting 800 Cosmic damage to all players if successful.
Upon interaction, the essence becomes hostile and instead continuously manifests Chaotic Motes. These motes channel 3 Cosmic damage into targeted players every 0.5 sec. for 3 sec. When defeated each mote splits into additional motes.
After 15 sec the Chaotic Essence dissipates, granting all players 2% increased damage done, 2% increased healing done, and 2% absorbs done for 30 sec. This effect stacks for each Chaotic Mote slain.
Fated Power: Protoform Barrier
Protects the caster, reducing damage taken by 5% for 15 sec. This effect stacks every 1 sec.
Upon expiration the barrier shatters, inflicting 80 Cosmic damage to all players.
If broken this effect backfires, inflicting all damage done to each enemy during the barrier as Cosmic damage, and additionally grants all players 10%-20% increased damage done for 20 sec.
Fated Power: Reconfiguration Emitter
Taints a player, inflicting 15 Cosmic damage every 1 sec. for 15 sec.
Upon removal this power [explodes for 50 Cosmic damage to allies within 5 yards, manifesting][manifests]as an attackable enemy, which continuously casts. Successful casts inflict 40 Cosmic damage to all players. [Every 5 sec. the caster gains 5% increased damage done. This effect stacks.]
While present the caster grants all players 5% increased damage done, 15% increased damage taken, and 15% increased healing done. This effect is disabled while the caster is unable to act.
[When successfully interrupted the caster radiates, inflicting 5 Cosmic damage to all players.]
Fated Power: Replicating Essence
Ensnares afflicted players, reducing movement speed by 15% and inflicting 15 Cosmic damage every 1 sec. for 5 sec.
Upon removal this essence patterns inself as 2 attackable enemies, which continuously channels 3 Cosmic damage every 0.5 sec. into targeted players for 4 sec.
Upon defeat grants all players 2% increased damage done and 2% increased healing and absorbs done for 5 sec.[This effect stacks and adds to the previous duration.]
Upon reaching full power, this essence replicates itself into 2 additional copies, exhausting itself preventing additional replication and no longer grants players any beneficial effects upon defeat. Exhausted Essences continuously channels 5 Cosmic damage every 1 sec. into multiple targeted players for 4 sec.
MYTHIC DUNGEONS IN SEASON 4 (9.2.7)
Dungeon changes
In Season 4, we will get 8 dungeons that comes from shadowlands and previous expansions into the M+ dungeon pool. These 8 dungeons will be the ones that are available for M+, meaning, the other shadowlands dungeons are no longer active for M+.
- Tazavesh: Streets of Wonder
- Tazavesh: So’leah’s Gambit
- Operation Mechagon: Junkyard
- Operation Mechagon: Workshop
- Return to Karazhan: Lower
- Return to Karazhan: Upper
- Grimrail Depot
- Iron Docks
The Shadowlands dungeons that are not included in Season 4 can still be done on Mythic difficulty (M0) but not Mythic +.
You can still run M0 dungeons for the weekly quest “Emissary of War” where you must complete 4 Mythic dungeons.
You cannot enter a shadowlands dungeon (except Tazavesh) and do it on M+ difficulty. The Font of Power device in which you insert your Mythic Keystone is removed on Season 4.
Loot and ilvl
Completing M+ dungeons
Loot from the Weekly Vault will only drop gear from the 8 dungeons that are active in Season 4. When I checked the weekly vault on the PTR, I got following from the same week:
- Logic Loop of Division (Mechagon: Junkyard)
- Frozen-Link Chestguard (Upper Karazhan)
- Dragonbane Diadem (Tazavesh: Gambit)
- Kihra´s Adrenaline Injector (Iron Docks)
- Orbitwarp Culattes (Tazavesh: Streets)
- Discount Mail-Order Belt (Tazavesh: Streets)
- Miniscule Mailemental in an Envelope (Tazavesh: Streets)
- Swift Pneumatic Grips (Mechagon: Workshop)
- Roughshod Chain Boots (Mechagon: Junkyard)
- Miniscule Mailemental in an Envelope (Tazavesh: Streets) (again)
Completing Shadowlands M0 dungeons (not the 8)
It seems that you will get rewarded with Weekly Vault by completing M0 shadowlands dungeons since you can run those dungeons that are not included in the 8 M+ Season 4 dungeons. Also since you can complete the weekly event quest “Emissary of War“ by completing M0 shadowlands dungeons.

Season 4 Affix: Shrouded
The new Affix: Shrouded has added dreadlords inside the dungeon. There are two types of dreadlords: Nathrezim Infiltrators and Zul'gamux.
Nathrezim Infiltrators
- These dreadlords are disguised and look like the enemies inside the dungeon.
- You can still know which mob is a dreadlord because they have a special aura on them. This aura is called Disguised (Something doesn’t look quite right). You can also spot a dreadlord in disguise by seeing that the mob has a dark glow.
- Dreadlords in disguise will show their true nature once you attack it, and once you kill it, it will become trapped and captured by the Bounty NPC you spoke to at the start of the dungeon.
- These dreadlords cannot be cc´d in any way.
These Infiltrators have 3 abilities:
Vampiric Claws
Does damage to the enemy and heals the dreadlord based on dmg done.
Carrion Swarm
Does a frontal that does dmg and reduces healing received by 25% for 10 sec.
Nightmare Cloud
Creates a Cloud until cancelled. Coming into contact with the Cloud puts the player into a statis.
Zul'gamux
- During the dungeon, one Disguised mob will instead turn in to Zul'gamux.
- This is a harder mob compared to the infiltrators.
Zul'gamux have 4 abilities:
Shadow Claws
The dmg puts a stacking 12 sec debuff on the target.
This is a magic debuff and can be dispelled.
Blood Barrier
Puts a shield on her and does dmg to players. Also heals herself based on the dmg.
Cannot be interrupted until the shield is broken.
Shadow Eruption
A 5 sec cast that will do a shadow explosion around her that does dmg and reduce healing received by 70% for 10 sec on players hit.
Hypnosis Bat
Summons a Hypnosis Bat on a player.
This player becomes hostile to other players.
This player takes ticking dmg.
This player can attack other players but also enemy mobs.
This player has a shield and when the shield is broken the dmg debuff is removed.
Enemies and other players can destroy the shield.
Secondary Stat Buff
When starting a dungeon, there is a Bounty Hunter NPC next to you called Taílh.
This NPC will offer you a specific buff when you capture a dreadlord.
You have the opportunity to choose which buff you want to get. If you do not choose, then you will get Versatility automatically.
This Bounty buff starts at 2% (1% of you pic versatility) of the stat that you picked.
Each stack you have on your stat buff gives 2% of the secondary stat that you picked.
When you kill a Nathrezim Infiltrators, you get one stack (2%).
When you kill Zul'gamux, you get three stacks (6%).
NEW VENDOR – BUY & UPGRADE BEST TRINKETS/WEAPONS
We are getting a new vendor in Oribos. This vendor will sell trinkets and weapons that comes from all the three raids in shadowlands (Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination and Sepulcher of the First ones).
Where is the trinket/weapon vendor located?
The vendor is located in Hall of Holding, just on the right side of the Great Vault.
There are 3 vendors there and each vendor is linked to the raid the gear comes from.
Ko´ropo – Castle Nathria supplier.
Ta´choso – Sanctum of Domination supplier.
So´turu - Sepulcher of the First Ones supplier.
What is the ilvl of trinkets and weapons
Items sold by these vendors will be at the Season 4 Normal ‘Fated’ item level range of 278-285, depending on the item.
What is the cost for buying trinkets or weapons?
The currency is called Puzzling Cartel Dinar.
It cost 1 Dinar for buying one gear. Doesn’t matter if it is a trinket or a weapon. It doesn’t matter which raid vendor it is.
How many Puzzling Cartel Dinar can be looted?
You will only be able to get 3 Puzzling Cartel Dinar for the entire season.
Where to get Puzzling Cartel Dinar
Puzzling Cartel Dinar comes from 3 quests.
Each quest rewards 1 Puzzling Cartel Dinar.
Quest 1
Requires you to kill 30 bosses from Fated Raids.
Rewards 1 Puzzling Cartel Dinar.
Quest 2
Requires you to kill 20 bosses from Fated Raids.
Rewards 1 Puzzling Cartel Dinar.
Quest 3
Requires you to kill 10 bosses from Fated Raids.
Rewards 1 Puzzling Cartel Dinar.
Counting a boss kill for the quest requires:
- The raid boss must be a Fated Raid boss.
- You can only get 1 kill counted from each boss per week. Killing the same boss in different difficulties does not reward extra kills.
- All 4 difficulties (Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic Mode) count as kills.
How many boss kills can you get per week
When Castle Nathria is Fated, you will get a maximum of 10 kills that week.
When Sanctum of Domination is Fated, you will get a maximum of 10 kills that week.
When Sepulcher of the First Ones is Fated, you will get a maximum of 11 kills that week.
How long time does it take to buy a trinket or a weapon
If you kill all Fated bosses each week, it will look like this:

Meaning, you will get a Dinar on 3rd, 5th and 6th week
LATEST NEWS: players clearing 10 Fated bosses per week would acquire their season’s limit of Dinar (the currency used to buy Fated raid items) by 6 weeks at the earliest. We’re going to lower the number of kills required on each quest such that it’ll land somewhere in the 4.5/5 week range instead.
LATEST NEWS: We’ve also heard a lot of feedback about how if you joined late into Season 4 or had alts you wanted to play, you’d be met with a pretty large wall of Quests/Boss Kills necessary to access the system, which felt like it ran counter to the lessons learned with the Creation Catalyst. Exact details TBD, but after a certain period we’ll be heavily reducing the requirements for these 3 quests. This way the initial progression experience of early Season 4 is intact, but that the later it goes, you’ll be able to raid on a new character or with a new friend without being so far behind.
How to upgrade Raid Gear
All gear from Fated raid can be upgrade.
Gear from raids that are not fated cannot be upgraded.
Gear that can be upgraded has a “Fated”-tag on them.
Gear from the Fated vendor can also be upgraded.
You upgrade gear with specific Fated Shard.
Heroic Fated Shards are dropped from Heroic bosses.
Mythic Fated Shards are dropped from Mythic bosses.
Each boss has a 100% chance of dropping 1 shard to each player.
How muchis the upgrade and costs?
It costs 20 shards to upgrade one item.
If you have 20 Heroic Fated Shards, you can upgrade any item from Raid Finder, or Normal mode into Heroic ilvl.
If you have 20 Mythic Fated Shards, you can upgrade any item from Raid Finder, or Normal, or Heroic mode into Mythic ilvl.
