The Hallowfall Fishing Derby is here, and with it comes an exciting quest that challenges players to catch three unique trophy fish: the Trophy Crystalline Sturgeon, Trophy Specular Rainbowfish, and Trophy Sanguine Dogfish. But where can you find these elusive fish? Let’s dive into the details!
Quest Details
Once you accept the quest, you have a limited timeframe of one real-time hour to catch the Trophy Fish and earn Mereldar Derby Marks. Be mindful that if you abandon the quest or log off while the Derby Dasher buff is active, the timer will continue to run. After the buff expires, you won’t be able to acquire it again until next week's quest is available.
Fish Locations and Strategies
Here's where you can find each of the trophy fish:
-
Crystalline Sturgeon
-
Special Zones: Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps
-
Pools: Glimmerpool
-
Although the Crystalline Sturgeon is quite common, it can only be targeted from the Glimmerpool. Thankfully, this pool is frequent in both the Isle of Dorn and The Ringing Deeps, making it easier for players to catch.
-
-
Specular Rainbowfish
-
Special Zones: Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps
-
Pools: Glimmerpool
-
The Specular Rainbowfish is classified as an uncommon fish, which can sometimes make it difficult to find. However, it shares the same pool and zones as the Crystalline Sturgeon, so fishing in the Glimmerpool should yield both fish.
-
-
Sanguine Dogfish
-
Special Zones: All Zones
-
Pools: Blood in the Water, Bloody Perch Swarm
-
The Sanguine Dogfish is rare, but there’s a reliable method to attract it. This fish can be caught in any zone of Khaz Algar, but your best bet is to target the Blood in the Water or Bloody Perch Swarm pools. While fishing, you’ll likely catch numerous Bloody Perch. Once you have 10, you can throw them back into the water to guarantee a Sanguine Dogfish on your next cast. Remember to stand still after throwing the Bloody Perch back, as moving will cancel the effect of the Bloody Chum special.

Earning Mereldar Derby Marks
Once you’ve successfully caught all three Trophy Fish, you can continue to earn 1 Mereldar Derby Mark for each unique fish you catch while the Derby Dasher is active. For more information on where to find all the other fish in Khaz Algar, be sure to check out our Fishing Guide!
