Legion Leatherworking Guide

  • The Max skill on professions in Legion is 800.
  • You will not get your all your recipes from trainer directly. Instead you will do a quest chain containing many quests that rewards recipes. Basically your trainer has ideas of how to make stuff and you try them out and if it works, you get a recipe.
  • Profession quests takes you all over Broken Isles and also requires to do some dungeons as well.
  • You need a certain level to get more quests from trainer, however, while doing the main legion questline you will bump in to profession specific quests.
  • There are some lvl requirements needed to obtain a new profession quest.
lvl 100 - You start the first legion profession quests.
lvl 102 - Follow up on profession questline unlocks
lvl 104 - Follow up on profession questline unlocks
lvl 106 - Follow up on profession questline unlocks
lvl 108 - Follow up on profession questline unlocks
lvl 110 - Follow up on profession questline unlocks
  • You need to be max level to finish the profession quest line.
  • You can upgrade crafted gear from 815 to a maximum of 850. Check out my guide regarding this, here.

Leatherworking Crafting Reagents

There are four main crafting materials.

Stonehide Leather
Leather armor; Warhide armor

Dreadhide Leather
Leather armor; Dreadleather armor

Stormscale
Mail armor; Battlebound armor

Gravenscale
Mail armor; Gravenscale armor

Stonehide Leather
Can be obtained from skinning any furry beasts, such as wolfs, panthers. They are more or less all over the Broken Shores.

Stormscale
Can be obtainable from skinning scaled beasts, such as Turtles and dragons. A good place to farm turtles is in Azsuna (see map below). They give 3-4 Stormscale per turtle.

At max level (110) this place in Suramar is paradise for Stormscale farming.

Leatherworking Questline

New UI menu: Training

When doing the quests, you basically train to become a pro in leatherworking. When you gather materials needed, you will train in making various crating items and armor.

Separate Mail and leather quests

On the 3rd quest in the questline you will get a separate questline for mail and a separate questline for leather.

If you will continue with Mail armor, I suggest start questing in Val´sharah since the firsts leatherworking profession on mail crafting takes you there.

If you will continue with leather armor, I suggest start questing in Stormheim since the firsts leatherworking profession on leather crafting takes you there.

In Stormheim, the first Leather armor quest (Vestment Opportunity) wants you to enter a fort in Hrydshal. The main gate is closed and you can easily enter with a harpoon from one of the quests in Stormheim, part of the Stormheim questline.  TIP: If you want to complete this profession quest without doing the Stormheim questline, I made a video how to enter the fort.
