As we prepare for the conclusion of The War Within Season 1 and the arrival of Season 2, big changes are on the horizon for World of Warcraft players. However, one significant update worth noting is that Season 2 Delves (Tiers 1-3) will not be accessible during the pre-season period leading up to Season 2's official start. Instead, players will only have access to Season 1 Delves (Tiers 1-11) during this transitional time.
Let’s take a closer look at what this means and how it differs from previous expansions.
Pre-Season Access: What’s Changing?
Traditionally, when a new content patch (like Patch 11.1) went live, players could jump straight into the new Delves Tier 1, 2 and 3. However, patch 11.1 breaks from this pattern:
-
Season 1 Delves (Tiers 1-11) will remain active and accessible during the pre-season period.
-
Season 2 Delves, Tiers 1-3 together with Tiers 4-11 will only become available on March 4th (US) / March 5th (EU) when The War Within Season 2 officially begins.
This means that while Patch 11.1 will go live a week before Season 2, players will need to wait until the season itself starts to dive into the new Delves content.
What About Rewards from Delves?
A key question for many players revolves around the rewards obtained from Delves during the pre-season period. Here's the breakdown:
-
Valorstones, Undercoins, Radiant Crystals, and Crests:
These rewards will still be the Season 1 versions during the pre-season. However, once Season 2 goes live, all Season 1 rewards will be removed from your character. This means that you will not be able to farm these items during the pre-season, as was possible during the pre-season transition to Season 1. -
Restored Coffer Keys:
Similarly, Restored Coffer Keys will not be farmable during the pre-season. They remain tied to rewards like Radiant Crystals from Season 1 and will also be removed from your inventory when Season 2 begins. -
Bountiful Buff:
Some players might consider saving their Bountiful Buff for use in Season 2. Unfortunately, this strategy will not work, as the buff will not carry over to the next season.
In summary, while the pre-season period gives you access to Season 1 Delves (Tiers 1-11), it’s important to note thatnone of the rewards, currencies, or keys will transition into Season 2. Players should plan accordingly to avoid losing any progress or items tied to Season 1.
