Good news, everyone! The War Within's first Timewalking event is here, and it offers far more benefits than you might expect. This event is a fantastic opportunity for both leveling and gearing, and we've done the heavy lifting to provide you with all the essential details.
Leveling and Gearing Benefits
Timewalking in The War Within is a gift for players looking to gear up or level their characters. Your max-level character can earn stacks of gear by completing the Black Temple raid, which is part of the Timewalking event. You'll receive a box containing heroic gear, and each boss has the chance to drop Champion gear equivalent to normal raid gear. With nine bosses, that's nine chances at the loot table—more than typical raids like n Bar. Plus, Black Temple gear can be used in the Catalyst.
Additionally, there's another Timewalking quest requiring you to complete five dungeons or raid bosses. A single clear of Black Temple fulfills this requirement, granting you another box with Champion gear. This means you could potentially score rare pieces with just one raid run, which takes about an hour.
Efficient Leveling
Timewalking dungeons are now counted as heroic dungeons for the Great Vault, which means they can provide significant gear upgrades. For new characters, this is a fantastic way to get 593-level gear from the Vault. The event is particularly beneficial for leveling, especially from level 70 to 80, with Timewalking dungeons offering about 50% more XP than standard expansion dungeons.
These dungeons can be completed quickly, often in 6 to 8 minutes, making them a speedy way to level up even without rested XP. For example, completing nine dungeons took us to level 75. This means you could reach level 80 in roughly 2.5 hours of gameplay.
Strategic Tips
While Timewalking is highly efficient, there are ways to maximize your gains. High-level characters are more powerful than lower levels in these dungeons, and while mob HP is low, their auto-attacks can hit hard. It’s important to use crowd control and burst AoE effectively to manage these threats.
For optimal dungeon runs, bring along level 80s from your guild who need their five weekly dungeons. They can help speed up completion times.
Badge Farming and Rewards
Farming Timewalking badges has never been easier, and now these badges are warband-bound, allowing you to funnel them to a single character. The Timewalking quest gives 500 badges per character, which can be transferred across your warband. This makes it possible to earn a significant number of badges quickly, perfect for purchasing mounts, toys, or reputation tokens.
Moreover, with the character restoration system, you can revive old characters, run a dungeon for 500 badges, and then delete them again. While it feels a bit exploitative, it’s an effective strategy.
Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, there are more mounts and rewards coming in the next patch. The 20th Anniversary celebration includes Classic Timewalking, introducing a new vendor with mounts, weapon transmogs, and more. Participating in the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm Timewalking events will also yield more opportunities to earn badges and rewards.
With all these benefits, now is the perfect time to dive into Timewalking and make the most of these events. Happy adventuring!
