Blizzard has officially announced Patch 11.1 for The War Within, titled Undermine(d). This upcoming patch will transport players to the heart of the Goblin Trade Empire, the vibrant city of Undermine.
Patch Overview
Following the events of Patch 11.0.7, players are eager to discover what lies ahead in The War Within. Tracking Xalatath's trail leads us to Undermine, a location that has sparked excitement since the inception of the underground expansion concept. This city is unlike any other in World of Warcraft, showcasing the intelligence and creativity of goblins as they harness technology and alchemy. As players delve deeper into their adventures, they will uncover more about goblin culture, their values, the challenges they face, and what makes them unique—beyond the humor and chaos that often accompany them. And yes, expect plenty of explosions along the way!
Upon entering Undermine, players will find themselves amidst a power struggle involving four major goblin cartels: Steamwheedle, Blackwater, Bilgewater, and the Venture Company. Players can choose to ally with one of these factions and will encounter infamous goblin characters like Monte Gazlowe, Renzic "the Shiv," Baron Revelgaz, and Marin Noggenfogger.
Customize Your Own Blinged-Out Ride: D.R.I.V.E.
Patch 11.1 introduces a new customizable ground mount known as D.R.I.V.E. Players will have the ability to modify both the appearance and performance of their mount, adjusting stats such as speed, drift, and grip. As you get involved with a goblin cartel, you can't go around in anything less than a flashy ride. Early in your journey, you will acquire a vehicle specifically designed for Undermine, capable of pushing the limits of transportation in World of Warcraft. With roads made for speed, this mount will outpace conventional ground mounts. You can further fine-tune its driving characteristics—whether you prefer better grip or a focus on drifting, or if you want to prioritize acceleration over top speed. The choice is yours as you navigate the streets of Undermine at high velocity.
New Dungeon: Operation: Floodgate and Mythic+ Rotation
The patch also unveils a new dungeon titled Operation: Floodgate, which will be featured in the Mythic+ rotation for Season 2, alongside four additional dungeons and three returning favorites. Operation: Floodgate presents a thrilling challenge where players race against time to prevent a group of goblins from destroying a dam, which would lead to catastrophe in the Ringing Deeps. This dungeon will be immediately available for Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+ difficulties, along with four other new dungeons and three returning legacy dungeons, including the beloved Battle for Azeroth dungeon, The Motherlode.
Delves and New Zek'vir Updates
In addition to the new dungeon, two new Delves will be introduced within the Undermine area, including a Zek'vir-style delve for Season 2. Players will also have the opportunity to collect new goblin-themed curiosities for Brann Bronzebeard. Building on one of the most popular elements of The War Within, these additions will offer fresh exploration experiences, along with seasonal updates featuring a new adversary for Brann.
New Raid Zone: Liberation of Undermine
Patch 11.1 will also feature an exciting new raid called Liberation of Undermine. This raid will present players with eight bosses, culminating in a climactic battle against Gallywix. Players will navigate through the lush streets of the city and into the extravagant Gallagio, a place filled with vibrant colors and hidden secrets linked to its enigmatic owner.
New Arena Map
For players interested in PvP, Undermine(d) will introduce a new arena map set within the city, providing fresh battlegrounds for competitive play.
Story Connections
Many players may be curious about how Xal'atath fits into the larger narrative and how goblin politics intertwine with the fate of the world soul. Rest assured, Undermine will play a crucial role in the ongoing storylines of The War Within, with more details to be revealed in the coming months.
