What is Shadowflame Crest - Patch 10.1

 

You get a Shadowflame Crest when you complete a specific difficulty. You need one Crest when you upgrade one piece of gear (but you also need Flightstones which is the currency of how much it costs to upgrade). So basically the crest is a thing that is needed in order to let you upgrade and the Flightstone is the cost to upgrade. You do not get the Crest back after you upgrade, it will be gone. The 4 types of Crests are:

- Whelpling
- Drake
- Wyrm
- Aspect

Different crests can upgrade different types of Gear and there are 5 different types. 

- Explorer (can be upgraded 8 times)
- Adventurer (can be upgraded 8 times)
- Veteran (can be upgraded 8 times)
- Champion (can be upgraded 8 times)
- Hero (can be upgraded 5 times)

Whelpling Crest can upgrade Adventurer Gear, the last 4 ranks.

Whelpling Crest can upgrade Veteran Gear, the first 4 ranks.
Drake Crest can upgrade Veteran Gear, the last 4 ranks.

Drake Crest can upgrade Champion Gear, the first 4 ranks.
Wyrm Crest can upgrade Champion Gear, the last 4 ranks.

Wyrm Crest can upgrade Hero Gear, the first 4 ranks.
Aspect Crest can upgrade Hero Gear, the last rank.

So basically: 

  • NO Crest to Upgrade Explorer Rank 1-4 (376 - 385 ilvl)
  • NO Crest to Upgrade Explorer Rank 5-8 (389 - 398 ilvl)

  • NO Crest to Upgrade Adventurer Rank 1-4 (389 - 398 ilvl)
  • Shadowflame WHELPLING Crest to upgrade Adventurer Rank 5-8 (402 - 411 ilvl)

  • Shadowflame WHELPLING Crest to Upgrade Veteran Rank 1-4 (402 - 411 ilvl)
  • Shadowflame DRAKE Crest to Upgrade Veteran Rank 5-8 (415 - 424 ilvl)

  • Shadowflame DRAKE Crest to Upgrade Champion Rank 1-4 (415 - 424 ilvl)
  • Shadowflame WYRM Crest to Upgrade Champion Rank 4-8 (428 - 437 ilvl)

  • Shadowflame WYRM Crest to Upgrade Hero Rank 1-4 (428 - 437 ilvl)
  • Shadowflame ASPECT Crest to Upgrade Hero Rank 5 (441 ilvl)

The drop is Crest Fragments and you need 15 fragments to make it into a Crest. The Crest Fragments are 100% drop.
